Sizing Table

for Knitting Needles and Crochet Hooks

1. Bates and Boye knitting needle sizes are almost identical down the chart.
2. Both Boye and Bates size increments are based on 1/4 millimeter or 10/1,000ths of an inch
   (a postcard is about 7/1,000ths of an inch)
3. Boye and Bates each use a different measuring scale for their crochet hooks.
4. Boye crochet hooks do not always accurately match the metric size stated on the package.
   (Noted in columns 5 & 6)
5. Wood expands and contracts with humidity changes, so sizes will slightly vary. These changes are proportional to the thickness and will not noticeably affect the size of stitch.
